Meet Galápagos' newest little celebrity 💙🐙

Tiny, bright blue, and completely new to science.

This recently discovered octopus, *Microeledone galapagensis*, was found deep within the Galápagos Marine Reserve, near Darwin Island, nearly 1,800 meters below the surface.

About the size of a golf ball, this little creature is a reminder that even in one of the most studied and protected ecosystems on Earth, there are still mysteries waiting to be discovered.

The Galápagos has inspired explorers, scientists, and dreamers for generations—and it continues to surprise us. Who knows what other wonders are still hidden in the depths? 🌊✨

This is the Galapagos no one Instagrams.
From sea level to the highlands, the weather flips in 15 minutes.
On one end we start the day with blue skies and the sound of crashing waves… and on the other we start in fog, rain on the windshield, and silence that feels older than the islands.

The contrast between the highlands mist and the postcard beaches is what makes the islands real.

Somebody’s gotta do the fishing...
3-gallon beak, 1 fish caught
5 birds fed
That’s just how the ocean works 🌊

Just around the corner from Mother’s Day... and nature reminds us that no matter how big our kids get, they will always and forever be our babies. 🦭🍼

May brings our favorite weather in the islands. It’s a transition month in Galápagos—the wet season fades out and the dry season begins—and in between, we get perfect days like this.

Air temperatures sit around 75–82°F, the water stays warm at about 75–79°F, rainfall slows down, and the seas calm.

Our kind of paradise.

Days like these are perfect for long snorkeling sessions, nature walks, and kayaking around the bay.

Some sunsets arrive heavier than others, and the island knows why. Galapagos holds it’s breath with us, and then gives it back as light. Water, wind, and rainbows after heavy rain — nothing here moves alone. There’s an energy current beneath it all, threading joy to grief to memory, reminding us we’re held even when we feel adrift.
Some bonds don’t break. Some places don’t forget. We, won’t forget.

In loving memory of our beautiful friend Forever part of these Islands and our community.

Bartolome Island’s volcanic landscapes are home to one of the Galapagos’ most northerly penguin colonies. This little one’s ancestors arrived here via the Humboldt Current – a journey of adaptation that’s still shaping this archipelago.

Friday afternoon at the pier.
Last Fridays before school starts here in Galapagos.
School starts in May, so we’re making the most of April.
The water’s warm and nobody’s in a rush.

Nobody does brunch better than Pelican Bay.
The fishing crew here has two species and zero drama.
Fishermen bring the catch, pelicans bring the chaos.
Teamwork makes the dream work, Galapagos style.
