Cuyabeno is a wildlife reserve, it is located in the part of the Amazon rainforest, it is the second largest national park in Ecuador. With a total of 603,380 hectares. The reserve has a variety of ecosystems, such as primary rainforest, swamps, flooded and semi-flooded forest. The area has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world, it is a great place to see wildlife. The Cuyabeno river and its tributaries, like the ant river, make the river a lake system where exploring the wild life by canoe is a very pleasant experience. There is also a system of 14 lakes. The Cuyabeno reserve provides a habitat for more than 500 species of birds 10 species of monkeys, anacondas, alligators, pink dolphins jaguars, manatees, giant fish like the (arapaima gigas) armadillos and many more animals.}

Cuyabeno has two seasons the rainy season begins in March until August, and the dry season from September to February. During the dry season there are also sporadic rains as it is a tropical rainforest.
