Soy un miembro activo de la comunidad indígena Kichwa en Caluqui, Ecuador, que está a unos 10 minutos de la ciudad de Otavalo y a 2 horas de Quito. Nuestra comunidad podría beneficiarse enormemente de la ayuda de voluntarios en muchas áreas, la educación (centro infantil, escuela primaria y secundaria), tratamiento de aguas y mantenimiento, limpieza de las zonas y vías públicas, etc

estado recibiendo voluntarios desde 2010 y hemos disfrutado mucho. Nos beneficiamos tanto como los voluntarios de la experiencia y esperamos recibir más voluntarios para ayudar en la comunidad. Tenemos una casa básica de tres dormitorios con agua caliente, cocina de gas, lavadora. Hacemos todo lo que podemos para que los voluntarios se sientan cómodos mientras se experimenta el estilo de vida indígena de Ecuador. Conocemos bien la zona y llevamos voluntarios a los lugares turísticos locales y lejanos que están interesados en conocer. También hay actividades locales, tales como el mercado de los sábados en Otavalo, senderismo y divertirse con los vecinos. I live in and am an involved member of the Kichwa indigenous community in Caluqui, Ecuador which is about 10 minutes from the town of Otavalo and 2 hours from Quito. Our community could benefit greatly from the help of volunteers in many areas, education (primary and pre school), water treatment and maintanece, cleaning of the public areas and roads, etc. My family has been recieving volunteers since 2010 and we have enjoyed it very much. We benefit as much as the volunteers from the experience and hope to recieve more volunteers to help in the community. We have a three bedroom basic home with hot water, gas stove, washing machine. We do everything we can for the volunteers to feel comfortable while experiencing the indigenous lifestyle of Ecuador. We know the area well and take volunteers to local and far tourist sites that they are interested in. There are also local activities such as the Saturday market in Otavalo, hiking and having fun with the neighbors. We have a small farm as well with several crops and animals.
