Originally built in 1988 in Vancouver, Canada, this large and spacious motor yacht was converted into a passenge

r vessel in the early 2000’s. This Galapagos cruise ship can accommodates 16 passengers in 8 cabins each with their own private bathroom equipped with hot & cold water shower, and air-conditioning. This charming and comfortable First-Class yacht was built for the rough waters of the Canadian West Coast, so it will provide a stable, smooth and relaxing ride while on your beautiful Galapagos expedition on a small ship tour. The Cachalote Explorer offers the option of 6, 8 and 15 day Galapagos Islands small boat cruise itineraries that visit selected sites which are approved by the Galapagos National Park; each of these is unique, rich and varied and offer the opportunity to experience Galapagos up close and personal with a small group led by a highly experienced naturalist guide. The two 8 day itineraries can be combined to form a 15-day itinerary which we highly recommend for those travelers that would like to have a complete, in-depth Galapagos Islands small boat cruise. The Cachalote Explorer is the ideal boat that replaces the Cachalote I in the Galapagos Islands. Along with her sister ship the Beluga they offer wildlife safari-style live-aboard cruises of the Galapagos National Park. Both Cachalote Explorer and our sister yacht Beluga are owned and operated by Enchanted Expeditions, an Ecuador Destination Management Company (DMC). 🌊 NEW OCTOPUS DISCOVERY! A tiny blue octopus found in Galapagos is officially a new species! A May 2026 paper in the journal Zootaxa announced the finding. This adorable tiny marvel is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand 💙

“The octopus was first spotted during a 2015 deep-sea expedition conducted aboard the E/V Nautilus, in collaboration with the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) and the Galápagos National Park Directorate (GNPD). From the ship, the crew used a remotely operated underwater robot to explore the ocean floor near Darwin Island. As their camera moved over the sea floor near an underwater mountain, 5,800 feet (1,773 meters) below the water’s surface, the researchers noticed an octopus.” ~ Charles Darwin Foundation

✨ Yet another reminder of just how extraordinary the Galapagos Marine Reserve is, with its endless surprises and incredible species that call these waters home.

🌎 HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY TO DAVID ATTENBOROUGH! 🌱 If there is one voice that has become synonymous with the Galapagos Islands, it is Sir David Attenborough’s. On May 8th, he celebrated his 100th birthday, a remarkable milestone for a man who has dedicated his life to sharing the wonders of our natural world. He said: "Galapagos is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth, home to many plants and animals found nowhere else."

Through his storytelling, Sir David Attenborough has brought some of the planet’s most extraordinary places, including the Galapagos Islands, into the hearts and homes of millions around the world. His passion for wildlife and conservation has inspired generations to appreciate and protect these unique ecosystems, and for that, we are deeply grateful 💙

🌊 Look for David Attenborough's 3-part Galapagos program (from 2013) - still one of the best ever made about the enchanted islands. We highly recommend it! 🐢🌵
