One of those flying jewels that (even in a close-up picture) are difficult to fully capture all of its glittering beauty and magnificent presence.
With a distribution between Panama and Ecuador, this wonderful hummingbird is one of my favorites.

Blue-winged Mountain-Tanager (Anisognathus somptuosus)

Another of those "common" inhabitants of the Andean slopes, but you need to be at the right elevation range to enjoy of its beauty. This large tanager, as usually happens with this groups, complements its diets with insect and other arthropods to obtain the protein they require.

Crimson-rumped Toucanet (Aulacorhynchus haematopygius)

There's no doubt that this bird is often among the most wanted ones by the birdwatcher, common along its range but restricted, at the same time, to the northwestern slopes of the Andes.
Easily overlook, thanks to its beautiful green and golden plumage (with splashes of blue), when it is quietly sitting on the canopy, this magnificent bird could often be confused by a frog due to its croaking calls.
