The Waorani people, an indigenous group of approximately 5000 individuals, inhabit the Ecuadorian Amazon in the provinces of Pastaza, Napo, and Orellana. They speak Wao, a language with no known relatives, and have traditionally lived as nomadic hunter-gatherers, using blowguns and curare poison for hunting. Their territory overlaps with Yasuní National Park, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.
