Yasuní National Park in the Amazon region, one of the most biodiverse areas in the world, has been severely damaged for years by oil drilling in the ITT field. In August 2023, Ecuadorians voted in a historic referendum to end oil extraction in the park, representing a significant victory for environmental protection and the rights of indigenous peoples.
