El Salvador... 🌋 🐢 🌊

📍 Dining at Lago Coatepeque on a floating ferry dock. This lake is actually a volcanic caldera formed by a caticlysmic eruption 50-70k years ago. The water can suddenly change color due to magmatic minerals. Looming in the background you see the giant active volcano Santa Ana and extinct Cerro Verde.

🌊 Surf City, El Salvador has waves for days. The break featured here, Playa Sunzal, is family friendly - if you can manage the shoreline... Full of round rocks aka shadows of the eruptive past of this geologic hot spot.

Dogs of Ayampe.... Featuring the enchanting and mystical PIO (Peruvian Inca Orchid).

🔥 Dating back to 750 AD these amazing canines were utilized as heaters. Their warm skin soothed aches and arthritis and warmed the tootsies of ancestors passed.

🏺 They can be found adorning ancient Chimu pottery but their tender skin can be easily burned so special attention should be given.

🤌The skin feels like what I imagine a gorilla would feel like. Leathery patina. Coarse sporadic orange hairs. This breed is fierce and historic.

Take the most magical jungle hike at 🌿

🦎 Venture down carefully crafted pathways winding through the forest to explore the bounty of nature. Taste edible flowers and tropical fruits, see the most stunning cacao tree you could imagine, and learn about medicinal plants.

🐒 This forest is home to a family of howler monkeys who rarely come down from the trees. Other primates, amphibians and mammals live in harmony too alongside many 6 and 8 legged friends. I suppose some have no legs at all! 🐍
