The brilliant hue of this blue-footed b***y's feet is a sign of good health! Older birds, or those in the midst of raising their young, tend to have duller feet due to lack of rest or nutrients (a fact that will likely leave many parents in our audience nodding along). But did you know that these iconic bo***es are only one species of b***y in the Galapagos Islands? There are also red-footed bo***es, a smaller species that prefers to nest in trees. And finally, the Nazca b***y is the largest, with grey-colored feet—despite how much rest they may or may not have been getting with a little one still in the nest.

While a vacation in the Galapagos Islands is not commonly referred to as “island time,” we certainly think it could be. After coming through the front gates of camp our guests are greeted with this sign—the first of a series that helps you find your way from our main lodge to your specific Safari Tent, the pool, Kids Camp, and the Viewpoint. Our hope is that after the blinking signs of trains, planes, and the digital mayhem sometimes associated with travel, once you’re here, these analog guideposts will help you achieve a state of “𝘢𝘩𝘩𝘩𝘩, 𝘸𝘦’𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥!”

The Galapagos petrel is a seabird few visitors get to see, but that may soon change. With nesting activity recently confirmed on our property and a conservation project well underway, guests at Galapagos Safari Camp may soon have the rare opportunity to hear–and perhaps even observe–this elusive species up close.

And this long-lived bird isn’t just interesting because it is rare! Galapagos petrels are a key indicator of ocean health, and despite coming back from near extinction, their population remains critically endangered.

Discover more about and how you can get involved with supporting this collective effort through at the link below.

Our concept, , is at the heart of each meal served at Galapagos Safari Camp. While this certainly ties into our sustainability ethos, it is also a necessity here in the archipelago. After all, the popular "farm-to-table" concept is limited when you're on a volcanic island with limited freshwater resources! As a result, we strive to cook thoughtfully—focusing on what’s responsibly available, reducing waste, and prioritizing flavor and balance over abundance. This to us is Honest Dining. The result is a carefully planned yet robust menu that that tends to delight guests of all ages and flavor preferences. Of course, if you have specific dietary restrictions, simply let us know while planning your trip. We are more than happy to accommodate!

Pictured here is the striking Red-Billed Tropicbird, an easily-identifiable seabird with beautiful, elongated tail streamers. (Is any bird with "streamers" not beautiful?) In adult males, these tail feathers can be almost double the length of their body, equaling up to 41 inches (105 centimeters). Expert hunters, the Red-Billed Tropicbird nests on rocky cliffs and coastal outcrops, the perfect location for nest-building and diving for fish and squid in the waters beneath.

Visitors of Galapagos Safari Camp have the opportunity to spot this species on Santa Cruz, North Seymour, and South Plaza islands. 🪶 Please note that as with all wildlife in a natural and uncontrolled environment, no sighting is ever guaranteed!

Ice cream, anyone? We think our co-founder Stephanie makes a pit stop in Puerto Ayora look as refreshing as ever on a warm day on the equator! 🍦

One of the many perks of our location here in the Pacific Ocean is that the weather is more or less reliably ice-cream friendly, year-round. But there 𝘢𝘳𝘦 some fluctuations based on our dry and wet seasons. We have recently put together a helpful guide with in-depth information about our weather patterns in the Galapagos, as well as answers to many other questions travelers may have while considering us for an upcoming vacation. Peekaboo view? Exactly. While each of our Safari Tents and our Family Suite do have views of the ocean stretching out to the horizon line below, there is ample foliage in Camp to provide a beautiful, natural foreground. Our founders and team have worked tirelessly over the years to reestablish native species on this section of Santa Cruz Island to support endemic birdlife and habitat for Galapagos Tortoise. By being careful stewards of the land and embracing this natural setting, we ensure our footprint is as small as possible—and each visit is as authentic as can be.
