The Galapagos Islands are world renowned for their incredible fearless and unique wildlife. Here you can swim with sea lions, float eye-to-eye with a marine turtle, stand next to a blue footed b***y feeding its young, watch a giant tortoise in its natural habitat, and try to avoid stepping on iguanas scurrying over the lava. This alone makes the Galapagos Islands a dream destination for wilderness and wildlife enthusiasts where you can experience natural history in the flesh. Located in the Pacific Ocean at the equator line some 1000 km (620 mi) from mainland Ecuador, a unique ecosystem has been able to develop in isolation with minimal human presence. In the last 50 years, the local tourism industry has steadily grown, providing small but comfortable lodges at untouched beaches and in small harbor towns. Five of the Islands are inhabited, but only four of them offer lodge accommodation: Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, Isabela and Floreana. Please find details for the best value lodges below and feel free to contact your travel consultant of Responsible Travel for availabilities in the lodge of your choice. We also gladly organize transfers between the airport and your lodge as well as between islands in small boats and airplanes.
