Gavilan tours is only operating day trips, the mountain tours are no more, don't even know if one can get up there, for me with tours it's been over 2 yrs since.

what's wrong with people these days simply no interest in riding horses like in the old times. I'm guessing it's to do with offerings of San Pedro, Ayahuasca ceremonies,, or folks can go virtual reality, watch a video of the real thing, maybe just fear of the outdoors. haven't had a 2 or 3 day tour for 8 mths when I used to go up the mtn 4 times a month with up to 12 people. Last yr I did 5 treks for 2 days with only 2 people and once with 1 guy. I am fixing up and writing more books to sell to struggle by. I'm presuming because of Ecuadorian or world financial crises folks are not travelling like before.

Gavilan Tours is about to fold under. Tourism has dropped dead in its tracks. I used to do 3-4 treks a month,(2 and 3 days, with average 4 people per tour. This year I have done four treks with a grand total of 7 people, with a net intake of $280. My books are selling at the pace of a tortoise. As result I now weigh 50 kgs, but our horses are getting fat and fiesty with no work. My partners wife has had numerous operations after a tumor was removed from her uterus, the doctors made some sort of screw up and today she is to be treated with laser which costs $4,000. He already has a $6,000 debt after buying out the share and horses from another partner. With tourism as it is, there is no way my friend will be able to pay this amount. Vilcabamba is now overtaken by cars and motorbikes, hoses are about to become a thing of the past. sad but true.

Have horse will travel, problem Numero uno, no travellers. The weather here is perfect, again I think the Vilca fame went down the drain.
