The historical Bay of Mont Saint-Michel is also extraordinarily biodiverse 🌾

The famous French bay is over 500 km² and made up of vast mudflats and salt marshes that are home to many seabird species.

The bay's exceptional tidal range, which can reach 15 metres during spring tides, creates a great variety of tidal environments.

Local flora thrives among the mudflats, in freshwater and saltwater marshes, groves, dunes, rocky coasts, deep waters, polders and rivers.

🦇 Ever seen a baby bat nursery?
It’s like a tiny, upside-down daycare hidden in the dark.

In places like Mexico, species such as the Mexican greater funnel-eared bats gather in secret “maternity caves” — steamy, humid caverns near 40°C (104°F) that might seem unbearable to us, but they’re perfect for raising baby bats. 🌡️💦

These newborns come into the world hairless, blind, and flightless — yet they cling upside down like tiny acrobats from day one. 🤸‍♀️
Moms form massive colonies and somehow, in a sea of squeaks, each one recognizes her pup by smell and sound alone. 💞👃

As days pass, the pups grow fur, open their eyes, and begin to flap those wings — prepping for their first flights inside the cave. Before long, they’ll join the adults in the sky, eating thousands of mosquitoes a night. 🌙🦟

Bats aren’t just fascinating — they’re vital. They keep pest populations down, pollinate plants, and spread seeds.
So yes — protecting them protects us, too. 🌍🌸

What an incredible sunrise there was this morning at North Shields. The light was so intense with the sun sandwiched between the sea and the dark clouds above. It created the perfect conditions for a big sunburst.

Massive Birds Nests on telephone poles in the Kalahari Desert South Africa, a native bird called the sociable weaver bird constructs massive nests that from a distance, look like a giant haystack that's fallen into a tree. These nests are the largest built by any bird and are large enough to house over a hundred pairs of birds. Some sociable weaver nests have remained occupied for several generations spanning over 100 years.
