Egyptian Blue, also known as calcium copper silicate, is one of the first artificial pigments known to have been used by man. The oldest known example of the exquisite pigment is said to be about 5000 years old, found in a tomb painting dated to the reign of Ka-Sen, the last pharaoh of the First Dynasty. Others, however, state that the earliest evidence of the use of Egyptian blue is from the Fourth Dynasty and the Middle Kingdom, around 4,500 years ago. Nevertheless, by the New Kingdom, Egyptian Blue was used plentifully as a pigment in painting and can be found on statues, tomb paintings and sarcophagi. In addition, Egyptian blue was used to produce a ceramic glaze known as Egyptian faience.
Its characteristic blue colour, resulting from one of its main components — copper — ranges from a light to a dark hue, depending on differential processing and composition. If the pigment is ground coarsely, it produces a rich, dark blue, while very finely-ground pigment produces a pale, ethereal blue. It is made by heating a mixture of a calcium compound (typically calcium carbonate), a copper-containing compound (metal filings or malachite), silica sand and soda or potash as a flux, to around 850-950 C.

Green (Ancient Egyptian name "wahdj'"was the color of fresh growth, vegetation, new life and resurrection (the latter along with the color black). The hieroglyph for green is a papyrus stem and frond.

Green was the color of the "Eye of Horus," or "Wedjat," which had healing and protective powers, and so the color also represented well-being. To do "green things" was to do behave in a positive, life-affirming manner.

When written with the determinative for minerals (three grains of sand) "wahdj" becomes the word for malachite, a color which represented joy.

As with blue, the Ancient Egyptians could also manufacture a green pigment from Malachite – verdigris (Ancient Egyptian name "hes-byah" – which actually means copper or bronze dross (rust). Unfortunately, verdigris reacts with sulphides, such as the yellow pigment orpiment, and turns black. (Medieval artists would use a special glaze over the top of verdigris to protect it.)

And Good morning from Egypt 🔥☀️🔥

The Saturday of the light was this week.. dress up 🪞

On this day, the soul returned to the body of (Osiris) after (Isis) collected his body parts scattered throughout Egypt.. His body lit up with a a strong light force that blinded the eyes of the Egyptians, and from his light the meadows and trees flourished..
When he got up he asked them - the Egyptians - to draw ther eyes with kohl “ Eyeliner “ so that their eyes would remain Strong and shining throughout the year and also to bear the splendor of its light

And the Spring Festival, which the ancient Egyptians celebrated the second death and resurrection of (Osiris), was always held in the first week that comes after the full moon following the vernal equinox (the day in which the number of hours of night and day are equal).

After the Coptic Church in Egypt changed the old calendar, the current Coptic calendar is not in line with the timings of stars, equinoxes and solstices.

So, the celebration of spring and the Ester is not at its correct time nowadays , which was celebrated by the ancient Egyptians at the time of the spring equinox on 20-21-22 of March.

Happy Ester everyone and don’t forget to put kohl in your eyes 🙏🏻🌹🔥❤️
