يوم العلم المصري يبرز جذور المعرفة في مصر، صاحبة إحدى أقدم الحضارات في العالم.
في مصر القديمة، كان المعبود جحوتي رمزًا للحكمة والكتابة والعلوم، وسيد الكتبة، وارتبط بالقمر والطب والعالم الآخر.
وقد صُوِّر جحوتي في هيئة بشرية برأس أبي منجل، حاملاً أدوات الكاتب، في دلالة على دور التعليم والمعرفة في بناء الحضارة. وكان مركز عبادته الرئيسي في مدينة هيرموبوليس، بالقرب من الأشمونين بمحافظة المنيا.
نقش بارز للمعبود جحوتي من ظهر عرش تمثال للملك رمسيس الثاني، الأقصر.

legacy of knowledge rooted in one of the world’s earliest civilizations.
In ancient Egypt, Thoth (Djehuty) was revered as the god of wisdom, writing, science, and learning, and as the patron of scribes. Worshipped from the earliest dynasties through the Roman period, he was also associated with the moon, medicine, and the afterlife.
Depicted with the head of an ibis and holding the tools of a scribe, Thoth symbolized the power of education and intellectual discovery. His principal cult center was Hermopolis, located near modern-day Ashmunein in Minya.
