Today we visited the Saqqara Necropolis, We visited the largest and best preserved step pyramid complex Djsor. We got inside this pyramid and visited the temple grounds. Really beautiful spot. Not nearly as busy as the Giza pyramids.

We moved on to another pyramid, the pyramid of Unas. Interesting to contrast the decorated chambers contain instructions for how they would like to live in the afterlife and will as magical formulas and instructions to insure that the decreased knows how to enter the afterlife. The trip down to the burial chamber was a real experience. Steep slope with wood paving and cross pieces to help. Also the ceiling was quite low. We did make it down. Almost forgot, no lighting so only the "guides" flashlight and our mobile phone flashlights.

After this we continued on to the rug school. While families work. Kids go to school parttime and learn rug making parttime.
