The idea started in 2012 by our female founder "Asmaa Khattab" a French-English–Japanese speaking Tour guide and a big lover of Egyptian heritage when she created this page to show the real beauty of Egypt and share the passion of our rich heritage. By 2015, the idea was developed to organize Walking Tours to support local communities through touring experiences that uncover Egypt hidden gems. Now we are a registered company continuing to work on developing & improving the cultural tourism in Egypt. This is what we meant.

Egypt will always be our home and there are still countless stories here waiting for us to explore. Our Egypt journeys aren’t going anywhere. 🇪🇬

But history never stopped at modern borders. Civilizations crossed paths, people travelled, ideas moved and stories became connected.

And from the very beginning, we dreamed of one day following those connections beyond Egypt.

A craft passed down through generations. 🧵✨

Behind every Khayamiya piece is a story told through color, pattern, patience, and countless hand-stitched
details.

Meet Tarek El Safty, one of the talented Khayamiya artists keeping this beautiful Egyptian craft alive. For
generations, artisans have inherited this tradition from their parents, carrying not just a skill, but a piece of
Egypt’s cultural memory.

Discover Khayamiya in Historic Cairo, near the iconic Bab Zuweila, where this centuries-old art is still
woven into everyday life.

Some crafts are made by hand.
Others are passed down by heart. ❤

LOOK CLOSER 🔎 History is in the details!

At first glance, you see a billiard table.
But look closer, and you’ll find a story of royalty, craftsmanship, power and more than 500 years of history.

Billiards began as an outdoor game, similar to croquet, played on grass. As the game moved indoors, it
was recreated on a wooden table covered in green cloth, a reminder of the grass it was once played on.
King Louis XI of France is credited with commissioning one of the earliest recorded indoor billiard tables in
the 15th century.

Fast forward to 19th-century Paris, and we come across a name that is still visible on the billiard table at
Tahra Palace today: COSSON.

An official report from the 1839 Exhibition of French Industry mentions Madame Cosson, who exhibited
both a grand billiard table and a *petit billard*
, whose innovative form caught the jury’s attention and earned her an honourable mention.

Around the same period, King Louis-Philippe of France gifted Muhammad Ali Pasha the magnificent billiard
table that would eventually find its way to “Tahra Palace”

Originally placed in Muhammad Ali’s Shubra
Palace, it was later moved to Tahra by King Farouk.

And the story didn’t end there.

Years later, this room would witness a very different kind of history. Tahra Palace became an operations
centre during the 1973 October War.

Sometimes 500 years of history are hidden in one small detail. 🔎🔎
