Thistlegorm shall be closed for 15 days in the beginning of January
The Thistlegorm shall be closed for 15 days active of the beginning of January. In cooperation with the Egyptian Navy 18 Mooring blocks shall be dropped around the historical shipwreck at a distance of 120 meters. Ministry of environment approved the plan and the environmental impact assessment .
Ministry of tourism issued a decree banning boats from tieing ropes to the infamous wreck and shall issue a code in cooperation with Hepca and the CDWS to control and regulate the diving activities around the wreck.
The monitoring of the new regulations and the enforcement of the system shall be made from El Tur in cooperation with local community of fishermen who will also provide 2 tenders to bring divers from there boats (in case of the absence of a tender ) to the ascent and descent lines which will be the only lines attached to the wreck. Hepca shall finance the whole operation on behalf of its members.
