Op deze pagina wil ik mij graag aan u voorstellen. Mijn naam is Abdul Elbahrawy. En zo werd ik gids en reisleider.

Ik ben 39 jaar, getrouwd en vader van drie kinderen. Ik ben afgestudeerd archeoloog en Egyptoloog en sinds ruim 15 jaar met veel plezier en enthousiasme Nederlandstalig gids en reisleider voor Nederlandse reisondernemingen. Door mijn geboorte, mijn opvoeding, mijn studie, mijn beroep als Archeoloog en de liefde voor mijn Egypte kan ik u meenemen op een reis die u een deel van de werkelijke ziel va

n Egypte zal laten zien. Ik zal er zorg voor dragen u zo dicht mogelijk bij die oorsprong te brengen. Ik ben niet ver van Tanta geboren, in de Delta, het "hoge noorden" van Egypte. In 1996 heb ik een studiebeurs gekregen en heb zeven maanden bij een gastgezin in Nederland gewoond om mijn Nederlands te perfectioneren en sindsdien zet ik bijna elk jaar voet op Nederlandse bodem. Mijn liefde voor archeologie is zeer vroeg begonnen. Als jongetje van vijf of zes jaar oud was ik al druk met het begraven van kostbare artefacten (ook al waren dat dan geen eeuwenoude beeldjes, maar meestal een kroonkurk of een speeltje...) om ze later weer op te graven, te onderzoeken en na te tekenen. Op de Universiteit van Cairo is die liefde nog sterker geworden, maar werd mij ook duidelijk dat puur en alleen archeologie mij te "eenzaam" zou zijn. Geleidelijk vormde zich een ideaalbeeld in mijn hoofd; waarom niet mijn archeologische kennis combineren met de liefde voor omgang met mensen? Van deze keuze heb ik nog geen seconde spijt gehad en ik verheug mij er enorm op u Egypte en mijn liefde voor dit land en haar schatten te laten zien.

this girl came with other children who have lost their

parents to the VEDA boat. They had never been on such a tourist boat although there are hundreds sailing on the Nile where they live .
Veda invited them to learn from each other and to share and let them feel they are not alone .
