Happy Easter to all those celebrating today around the world 🐣
Egypt is Home for one of the oldest churches in the world, and the Very first Apostolic Throne which St.Mark founded In Alexandria. And today it’s the largest church in the Middle East and mother of Africa’s Churches. Egypt is also considered a holy land, as it is a site of pilgrimage for the flight of the Holy Family to Egypt. Therefore, Egypt is also home to thousands of churches, some dating back to the first centuries of Christianity, others built over places where Christ and his mother lived during their visit to Egypt, and others ancient monasteries as monasticism emerged from Egypt to the whole world. Another is the largest church in Africa and the Middle East. Church life in Egypt is thriving with prayers, service, and spiritual activities. Where Copts chant prayers and hymn that are thousands of years old in the language of the ancient Egyptians and even to this day. Copts pray during Easter celebrations, some hymns which date back to the era of King Ramses II, as the Copts adopted Pharaonic music and replaced the words with Christian ones, and they are recited to this day.
