Let us be reminded of the blessings we have, let us be reminded of the impact of giving alms, and above all, let us be ever more mindful of our consumption in times of joy and celebration.
Every year in Egypt, food waste can increase by up to 30% during the holy month of Ramadan due to over-preparation of meals and changes in consumption patterns, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

By planning portions wisely, sharing excess food, and supporting those less fortunate, we can truly embody the values of gratitude, generosity, and moderation that this month teaches us.

في اليوم الدولي للتعليم، دعونا نسأل أنفسنا: هل نحن نعلّم أطفالنا كيف يكونون بشرًا قبل أن يكونوا ناجحين؟

للأسف، أصبحنا نسمع بشكل متكرر عن قصص مؤلمة عن التنمر والعنف بين الأطفال، قصص تهزنا كآباء وأمهات، وكأشخاص يهتمون بمستقبل أطفالهم. وأصبح الخوف والغضب جزءًا من حياتنا اليومية ونحن نشهد هذا التدهور في العلاقات الإنسانية بين الأطفال. وشهدنا جميعاً حالات مأساوية حيث تنمر الأطفال على بعضهم البعض بشكل مأساوي، وحصدت هذه القصص أرواحًا بريئة، وتركت عائلات في حزن لا نهاية له.

لم يعد من المقبول أن نستمر في موقف المتفرج لمجرد أن ما حدث لم يحدث لأبنائنا شخصياً، ولم تعد رفاهية ألا نتكاتف لتغيير مفهوم التعليم! لا بد من تغيير حقيقي لجعل الأولوية لتعليم الأطفال القيم التي تبني شخصياتهم قبل أن نهتم بالتعليم الأكاديمي لبناء عقولهم. الأخلاق، التعاطف، والاحترام يجب أن يكونوا جزءًا من المنهج التعليمي لأطفالنا في المدارس، ويجب علينا كآباء وأمهات ومعلمين أن ننشاهم على أن اللطف والرحمة والمحبة هي القاعدة وليست الاستثناء.

وكما قال ديفيد دبليو أور، "أن الكوكب لا يحتاج إلى المزيد من الأشخاص الناجحين. لكنه في حاجة ماسة إلى المزيد من صانعي السلام والمعالجين والمرممين ورواة القصص والمحبين من كل نوع. إنه يحتاج إلى أشخاص يعيشون بشكل جيد في أماكنهم. إنه يحتاج إلى أناس يتمتعون بالشجاعة الأخلاقية المستعدين للانضمام إلى الكفاح من أجل جعل العالم صالحاً للسكنى وأكثر إنسانية، وهذه الصفات لا علاقة لها بالنجاح كما حددناه".

لنزرع هذه الصفات في قلوب أطفالنا. لنكن جزءًا من هذا التغيير.
