Here you'll find the Hanging Church, one of Egypt's oldest churches, dating back to the 3rd or 4th century AD, alongside the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-As, built in 641–642 AD as the first mosque in Egypt and across Africa.

The Citadel of Qaitbay has guarded Alexandria's coastline since the 15th century.

But long before the fortress stood here, this very site was home to one of the greatest achievements of the ancient world..
The Lighthouse of Alexandria.

When Sultan Qaitbay built his fortress in 1477, parts of the lighthouse's remaining stone were incorporated into its construction, preserving a connection between two extraordinary chapters of Egypt's history.

One landmark disappeared.. Another rose in its place.
History never truly left this shore. 🌊

At first glance, Kom Ombo looks like a single temple.
In reality, it was designed as two temples in one.

Every entrance, hall, and sanctuary exhibits remarkable symmetry, honoring Horus the Elder, the falcon god associated with kingship and protection, on one side, and Sobek, the crocodile god associated with the Nile's strength and fertility, on the other.

This rare dual design makes Kom Ombo one of the most distinctive temples in all of ancient Egypt.
