The great temple of Ramses|| (Abu Simbel temple) carved into the mountain 🌄 on the west bank of Lake Nasser in Aswan governorate, Upper Egypt. Abu Simbel contains two temples: the large temple dedicated to Ramses|| himself, who unified with Amun and Ra-Horakhty, contains four colossal statues of Ramses||. This temple witnesses a fantastic astronomical phenomenon which is sunlight ☀ penetrates the temple’s main door and illuminates the face of Ramses|| twice a year. The small temple was constructed for the Egyptian queen Nefertari 👑 the most favorite wife of Ramses||.
