THE FAYUM OASIS
Fayum is the largest oasis in Egypt, but it is not usually considered a tourist destination. It is located in a depression to the right of the Western Desert, about 103 km southwest of Cairo. It is surrounded by high plateaus and separated from the Nile Valley by a high ridge to the east, the Lahun. The oasis is famous for its year-round pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. There is evidence of prehistoric settlements as well as Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, and Islamic monuments. Fayum presents a combination of rural, coastal, desert, and urban environments, all of which are magnificent attractions for tourists. The Pyramid of Hawara (shown on the right) dates from 1991–1778 BC. The oasis provides a vast number of attractions for tourists

EL OASIS DEL FAYUM
Fayum es el oasis más grande de Egipto pero no suele estar dentro de los destinos turísticos en los viajes a Egipto, Se encuentra en la depresión, a la derecha del desierto occidental, acerca de 103 Km. Al suroeste de El Cairo. Está rodeado por mesetas altas, y separado del valle de Nilo por una arista alta al este por el Lahun. El oasis es famoso por su clima agradable durante todo el año y por su paisaje hermoso. Hay la evidencia de arreglos prehistóricos así como también faraónico, griego-romano, cóptico, y monumentos islámicos. Fayum presenta una combinación de escenario rural, costero, desértico, y los ambientes urbanos, los cuales son atracciones magníficas para los turistas.
