Beyond the sun-scorched horizon, the Red Sea conceals a hidden landscape. Deep within the rift, the canyon walls rise like ancient monuments, shielding a world where few have ventured. Here, every kick of a fin is a brushstroke on an untouched map, a journey into the quiet majesty of the earth’s inner sanctum.

To dive these depths is to become a pioneer of the silent blue, tracing the jagged contours of a submerged wilderness where the light of the surface is but a distant memory.

Resting at a depth of 64 meters, the wreck of the Corona IV serves as a silent, well-preserved monument to the Red Sea’s maritime history. This former safari boat met its end in February 1995 after striking a reef, eventually settling on its port side in the deep blue.

Because of its significant depth, the vessel remains an elite destination for technical divers, offering a hauntingly serene atmosphere and a unique look at deep-water coral growth that has slowly claimed the hull over the decades.

Experience the mystery of the deep with a team that specializes in world-class technical expeditions. Book a next adventure with Red Sea Explorers to go beyond the limits.

The Red Sea is home to some of the ocean’s most charismatic residents, and this masked pufferfish is no exception. With its distinctive black mask and curious expression, it is one of the most photographed species by divers in the region.
Unlike many other puffer species, the masked puffer is nearly endemic to the Red Sea. While it might look cute and clumsy, it carries a potent defense mechanism: a toxin called tetrodotoxin, which is up to 1,200 times more poisonous than cyanide to potential predators.
Ready to see these incredible creatures in their natural habitat? The crystal-clear waters of the Egyptian coast are waiting.

After exploring the deep corridors of the Rosalie Moller, the safety of the live aboard hull above provides a welcome sight during the final stages of the ascent.

The Rosalie Moller didn’t sink during a storm or a collision. She was actually at anchor when she was targeted by German Heinkel He 111 bombers in October 1941—just two days after the more famous SS Thistlegorm was sent to the seabed nearby. Because she sits deeper and is more exposed to the elements, she remains one of the best-preserved “ghost ships” in the Red Sea.

Precision and adventure go hand in hand on these world-class wrecks.

Technical divers hover above the massive hull of the Al Qamar Al Saudi Al Misr. Resting on its starboard side between 64m and 83m, this 125-meter ferry is a masterpiece of underwater history. Originally commissioned for Danish waters, it remains one of the most imposing technical objectives in the Hurghada region.

Although it started life as a Danish ferry named the Trekroner for the United Steamship Company in Copenhagen, the vessel was actually constructed at the Cantieri Navali del Tirreno e Riuniti shipyard in Italy.

Deep in the Red Sea, the black-side hawkfish (Paracirrhites forsteri) waits with patient precision. Known for their distinctive “freckles” and bold coloring, these predators are the masters of the ambush.

Perched atop a coral head, the black-side hawkfish surveys its surroundings. This species is famous for its lack of a swim bladder, which allows it to sit perfectly still on the reef without floating away—much like a hawk waiting for its prey.

The black-side hawkfish is a protogynous hermaphrodite. This means they are all born female, but if a dominant male in a harem disappears, the largest female can physically transition into a male to take over the group.

Beneath the surface of the Red Sea lies the Salem Express, a site that remains as controversial as it is captivating.
Resting at 30 meters, this 115-meter ferry is more than just a wreck; it is a somber memorial to the hundreds of lives lost in the 1991 tragedy. The debate over whether it should be dived remains a central topic in the diving community. While some view the site as a sacred tomb that should be left in peace, others believe that visiting with respect ensures the stories of those lost are never forgotten.

Red Sea Explorers leads expeditions to the Salem Express with a focus on reverence and historical education. Witness this underwater monument and pay respects to a piece of Red Sea history.
