Egypt to Establish Massive 225-Acre Olympic Village in the Red Sea

Cairo – The Egyptian government has allocated a prime 225-acre site in the Red Sea Governorate for the development of a world-class Olympic Village, set to become a major hub for international sports and tourism.

Spanning approximately 520,000 square meters, the ambitious sports complex will be strategically located directly opposite the popular resort town of El Gouna. The project aims to position Egypt as a leading destination for global sporting events, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure capable of hosting major international championships, continental tournaments, and high-level athletic competitions.
World-Class Facilities

The Olympic Village will feature multiple sports stadiums and specialized arenas built to full Olympic standards. To support visiting athletes, teams, and spectators, the development will include a luxury hotel designed to international specifications, allowing the complex to operate as a fully self-contained venue for large-scale events.

Boosting Sports and Tourism
Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil highlighted the project’s importance for the Red Sea region, stating that the investment will create an ideal environment for discovering and nurturing athletic talent while encouraging greater sports participation among Egyptian youth.

“This village represents a significant addition to the governorate’s athletic infrastructure,” Nabil said. “It will enable the Red Sea to host high-level international competitions, delivering a substantial boost to the local tourism industry.”
