TOURISTS NO LONGER HAVE TO PAY VISA FEES UNTIL THE END OF APRIL 2021

While Egypt managed to retain a good number of tourists despite a global pandemic making our 2020 summer all the more heated, the Chamber of Tourism doesn't seem ready to say goodbye as the cooler winter months start to roll on in. To help keep visitors flying into Egypt, they've announced that tourists flying directly to the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor or Aswan governorates will be exempt from paying the visa-on-arrival fees entirely until the end of April, 2021.

In order to help out tourism companies, the Chamber of Tourism will also postpone their electric, gas and water bills until the end of December. Although 400,000 tourists have visited Egypt with zero reported virus cases since lockdown restrictions have eased up (at least, last we checked in the middle of November, 2020), the global tourism industry still has a long way to go before they can recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

LUXOR TO REOPEN FOR TOURISM ON SEPTEMBER 1ST

Starting September 1st, certain hotels, museums and temples in Luxor will finally, finally be cleared to reopen for tourism. And if you're an international visitor and you're already trying to plan around the travel restrictions because you just got to get a look at Hatshepsut's temple, don't worry. One-day travel from Hurghada will also be allowed, so long as the flights and tours follow all prescribed procedures for Coronavirus prevention. So if you want to make the trip, don't forget to add your face mask to that bag of tourism essentials alongside your sunscreen, souvenirs and sheb-shebs.

The Lotus flower...

The Lotus Symbol was one of the most important religious Egyptian Symbols in the mythology of ancient Egypt.

The Lotus is used as a symbol in ancient Egyptian art representing the sun, of creation, rebirth and was a symbol of Upper Egypt. As a symbol of the sun it is closely associated with Atum-Ra, the Sun god and later with Nefertum, lotus god of perfume.

Lotus flowers, also called water lilies, open in the morning and close again at night symbolizing rebirth and regeneration. The lotus flower, water lily, was also used to symbolize the deceased upon entering the underworld and the process of rebirth, regeneration and reincarnation.
