Egyptian Archaeologists Discover the First and Biggest Bronze Statues Cachette

150 Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses’ Statues

The Egyptian team working at the Bubastian cemetery in Sakkara unearthed late period Cachette during the fourth excavations season.
Dr. Mostafa Waziry said “150 Bronze statues discovered.
The statues depict the ancient Egyptian deities Bastet, Anubis, Osiris, Amunmeen, Isis, Nefertum, and Hathor, as well as instruments used during the Isis rituals, such as the Sistrum.

A collection of 250 Late Period painted intact wooden coffins with mummies was also unearthed inside burial shafts along with amulets, wooden boxes and statues with gilded faces.

As well as two painted statues depicting deities Isis and Neftis mourning the deceased.”

Dr. Waziry also said that a 9-meter long papyri was discovered inside one of the coffins and may contain chapters of the Book of the Dead. It was taken to the restoration laboratory of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to study and conserve.

The discovery include a bronze headless statue of the Step Pyramid’s architect, Imhotep.

The team has been working at the site since 2018 where they discovered the 5th dynasty priest tomb of Wahty, 7 rock-cut tombs including Old and New Kingdoms tombs and over a thousand faience amulets as well as cats and animals mummies.

In 2020, the team discovered over a 100 sealed intact wooden coffins, 40 statues of God Ptah-Sokar and 20 God Horus worsen boxes.
