Imagine a pyramid:
* The Apex: The Pharaoh. Just like the pointed top of a pyramid, the Pharaoh sat at the very top of Egyptian society. Considered a god-king, their power was absolute, encompassing religious, political, and military authority. They were the ultimate decision-maker and the link between the gods and the people.
* The Upper Layers: Nobles, Priests, and Viziers. Below the Pharaoh were the elite – nobles, who often held land and power; priests, who were crucial for religious life and maintaining cosmic order; and viziers, the Pharaoh's chief advisors and administrators, overseeing the bureaucracy. * The Middle Layers: Scribes, Officials, and Skilled Craftsmen. This crucial section comprised those who kept records, managed administration, and possessed specialized skills.
