Dahabiya - Arabic for "the golden one"
Until the 1900s, the Dahabiya Nile trip was the preferred type of Nile trip for the upper class to escape the cold winter season. Sail in small, private groups with no loud engine noise. Enjoy views of mango trees and banana plantations along the shore, and visit historic cultural sites.

Today’s post is a very personal one because it’s time to simply say thank you, or as they say in Arabic: Shukran.

Thank you for the fact that we truly managed to fulfill our heart's desire 🥰 of owning our very own Dahabiya. A huge thank you goes out to all the helpers, from the very beginning until today – without you, this dream would never have come true!

Everything on this ship was created by hand (and oh, how we all worked on it... well into the night 🥴) and designed by us personally. Even now, we are constantly coming up with new ideas on how to improve every little detail.

But our most heartfelt thanks goes to all our guests who place their trust in us and fill this ship with life. It is you who validate our dream every single day. Thank you for sharing our love for detail and the tranquility of the Nile with us – you make our Dahabiya Asila the truly special place it is today."

‐----------------------------------------

Right on the banks of the Nile, the temple of Kom Ombo - one of Egypt's most extraordinary temples - rises. 🌟🏺️🌿
It is completely symmetrical and dedicated to two deities:
Horus the Elder, the falcon god of heaven, and Sobek, the mighty crocodile god of the Nile.

Horus, the falcon god
Horus, the god of heaven, stands for protection, order and royal power.
With the falcon's gaze, it symbolizes vision, clarity and light above chaos.

Sobek, the crocodile god
Sobek, the mighty god of the Nile.
Feared and revered at the same time - guardian of water, symbol of fertility and primal force of nature. 🌊🐊🔥
