welcome to Egypt & SIWA Oasis- where the gods spoke and the dead rest in the silence of the desert. with white desert Egypt safari
Tucked away in the heart of the Western Desert, almost 300 km from the nearest civilization, lies one of Egypt's most unusual oases - Siwa. Cut off from the rest of the country for centuries, it has preserved its own culture, language, and rhythm of life. The Temple of Amun was built here in the 6th century BC. Famous for its oracle, it attracted pilgrims from all over the ancient world.
The most famous of these was Alexander the Great, who came here in 331 BC to seek the advice of the god Amon and—according to legend—to hear confirmation of his divine origins. Today, the ruins of the temple remind us of the important role Siwa played in the spiritual life of the ancients.
A few kilometers away rises the Mountain of the Dead (Gebel al-Mawta) – a hill that hides dozens of tombs carved into the limestone cliffs. The oldest of them date back to the 26th Dynasty, and the frescoes in some of the chambers have been preserved in remarkably good condition. Priests, officials, and ordinary oasis dwellers were buried here. The site also served as a refuge for local families during air raids during World War II.
Siwa teaches humility – nature, time, and history.
We would like to thank our wonderful tour group for discovering these endless landscapes, ancient stories, and the extraordinary tranquility of this oasis together. It was a trip that will remain in our memories for a long time – full of sunshine, dust, and silence that speaks louder than words.
