Mt. Abbas Pacha 1 - The story
There’s a mountain above St. Katherine that holds a rather unusual story…
In the 1850s, Abbas I of Egypt chose this remote peak—today called Mount Abbas Pasha—to build himself a palace.
But why here, in the middle of nowhere?
Some say for the fresh mountain air, to ease his illness.
Others say he tested the mountains… with pieces of meat, choosing the place where they spoiled the slowest for him to live the longest.
Strange? Maybe.
But somehow, it makes this mountain even more intriguing.
