🚨 Renting an Apartment in Sharm? Avoid Scams! 🏠
Before renting an apartment in Sharm El Sheikh, take a few simple steps to protect yourself.
🚩 Red Flags to Watch For
• Prices that seem too good to be true
A luxury apartment at a very low price is often a warning sign.
• Pressure to pay quickly
Be careful if someone says: “Many people want it” or “Send a deposit now to reserve it.”
• “I’m not in Sharm” excuses
If the owner says they are abroad, traveling, or will “send the keys later” after payment — be extra careful.
• Refusing in-person viewing
Never rent an apartment without seeing it yourself (or having someone you trust inspect it).
✅ Safe Steps Before Paying
• Inspect the apartment in person
Check the exact apartment, building, furniture, electricity, water, Wi-Fi, AC, and condition.
• Get a written contract
The contract should clearly include:
– Apartment/building details
– Owner or representative details
– Rental period and payment terms
– Currency (EGP, USD, or EUR)
– Deposit amount (ta’meen)
• Pay only after verification
Do not send money before seeing the apartment and signing a contract.
• Receive everything at handover
When paying, receive:
✔️ Keys
✔️ Electricity/water cards (if applicable)
✔️ Pool/compound access cards (if applicable)
✔️ Signed contract
🛡️ Payment Safety
Be careful sending deposits via Vodafone Cash, InstaPay, bank transfer, or crypto to people you do not know or have not verified. Payment should only happen after inspection and agreement.
Stay safe and rent smart 💙
