⚠️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ANYONE IN SHARM 🇪🇬

Thursday 27th August has been declared a national holiday in Egypt for the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

If you're currently in Sharm, or travelling to sharm around this date, please make sure you take out any cash you may need before Thursday.

🏦 Banks will be closed for the public holiday and the weekend, meaning normal banking services will be unavailable from Thursday through Saturday, with services expected to resume on Sunday.

💷 ATM reminder: Please don't leave it until the last minute to withdraw your cash, as some ATMs can run low or become empty during extended holiday periods.

It’s always better to be prepared — especially if you have excursions, taxis, meals or other expenses planned over the weekend. 🇪🇬☀️

If you're travelling to Sharm this week, get your cash sorted before Thursday!

🌡️ Top tips for surviving the Egyptian sunshine:

🧴 Top up your sun cream regularly – yes, even if you "don't normally burn"!
💧 Keep sipping water throughout the day – don't wait until you're thirsty.
❄️ Don't blast the air conditioning too low. Around 24°C is much kinder on your body than going from the heat straight into an ice box.
🥤 Let those super icy drinks sit for a little while before gulping them down – your tummy will thank you!
👒 Hats, sunglasses and a bit of shade are your best holiday friends.
🌞 If you can, avoid being in direct sun during the hottest part of the day.

You’ll need to fill out a landing card. No pen? Good luck doing the “anyone got a pen?” dance in the queue.

🛂 2. Passport = Your Golden Ticket
Keep it handy — it’ll be checked more than once. Bury it under snacks and souvenirs at your own risk.

💵 3. Visa or No Visa? That is the Question
✅ Staying under 15 days AND not leaving Sharm?
No visa needed — just a free entry stamp at passport control. Easy peasy!

🚗 Planning to visit Cairo, Luxor, or stay over 15 days?
You’ll need a visa — it’s $30or equivalent in £ or € (CASH ONLY!).
👉 Head to the bank kiosk and avoid the reps charging extra. Even if they call your name like you're on Love Island — walk on by!

🧻 4. Trust Us: Bring Tissues
Airport toilets can be... unpredictable. Having your own loo roll or tissues = top-tier traveller move.

🛒 5. Trolley? Tip Time!
If someone helps with your luggage or hands you a trolley, a small tip is expected. Keep small change ready to avoid awkward moments.
