In the The Warrior’s Way method we invite our clients to find the smallest step they can engage with towards what makes them uncomfortable… spending too much time on my phone and not reading has been a source of frustration in the last few years. I’ve been buying books excited after reading interesting reviews or articles, only to let them pile up on my shelves.
So this summer I gave myself lots of mini goals toward my main goal of reading books again.
I first to chose one book out of the pile, then to read one page, then to finish a mini chapter… and see if I could complete the book over the summer.
I chose « Aimer sans posséder » une critique féministe de la fidélité by Sabine Valens. It was such an easy read that really talked to me about the societal normative expectations in relationships often founded in patriarchy & capitalism. How our search for certainty in an ever changing environment often tricks us in behaviours that deserve us… it was well written and accessible so sooner than I expected I was starting a second book « Au delà du Moi » by Mathilde Ramadier inviting us take a different look on how psychedelics could transform our consciousness and connection with nature. It was based on therapeutic approaches and the Ayahuasca experiences related felt many times very alike to my experience.
I managed to read two books in two months and my new goal is to read one book a month.
The next one will be « Garnier » again by Matilde Ramadier which i have just received and really looking forward to reading after experiencing Laurent Garnier set NEOPOP Festival this summer.
It always surprises me how applying climbing mental training climbing method to life take us to unexpected territory…it all started with reading one page, then another one and then another one….soon letting go of the phone scroll to dedicate enough time to finish a chapter wasn’t that uncomfortable anymore…
