This is possibly the first documented record worldwide of a case involving the abduction, r**e, and attack of a rough-toothed dolphin by a group of bottlenose dolphins.

The incident took place in the Teno-Rasca marine area off Tenerife. Early in the morning, we observed a pod of about 100 rough-toothed dolphins moving southward, very close to the coast.

At one point, they were intercepted by a group of approximately 15 bottlenose dolphins, which separated one of the rough-toothed dolphins from its pod. During the encounter, they subdued, bit, and battered the animal—an extremely violent display that created moments of high tension.

This is an extraordinary event that, if scientifically confirmed, could represent one of the first known records of this type of interaction between the two species.
