LOS MORTEROS | Most people staying in Costa Adeje never find this beach 🌊

Just beyond La Caleta, where the resorts give way to volcanic cliffs, a tiny cove hides at the bottom of the rocks.

Only 60 metres long, wild and completely undeveloped, it sits inside a protected natural area.

🪨 Look through the openings in the pale volcanic rock above the shore and the Atlantic appears framed like a picture, with the little beach right below.

⚓ This coast has history. La Caleta was the old port of Adeje, and records mention a resident of the port as early as 1573.

🤿 No bars, no sunbeds, no showers. Just clear, calm water that snorkellers love. It is also a traditionally naturist-friendly beach.

🥾 Wear proper shoes, not flip-flops. The path is rough and there is nothing to buy once you arrive, so bring water.

🏡 A short drive from our villas in Costa Adeje, yet it feels a world away.

PUNTA BRAVA | The corner of Tenerife where the Atlantic still sets the rhythm 🌊

At the western edge of Puerto de la Cruz, the streets suddenly narrow, the houses crowd together and the ocean fills the end of almost every lane. Welcome to Punta Brava, the old fishing neighbourhood of the north.

🎣 A village shaped by the sea
Long before tourism arrived, Puerto de la Cruz lived from fishing and maritime trade. Punta Brava has kept that spirit. Tightly packed homes, steep little streets and waves breaking just below the walls.

🦜 Did you know?
Loro Parque, one of Tenerife's most famous attractions, opened here in Punta Brava in 1972. It started small and grew around this old fishing barrio, which is still right outside its gates.

🖤 A beach designed by an artist
Next door lies Playa Jardín, the "Garden Beach". Its gardens and landscaping were designed by César Manrique, the Canary artist famous across Lanzarote. Black volcanic sand, tropical plants and the Atlantic in full power.

⚠️ Local tip
The north coast is wild. Waves here can be much stronger than in Costa Adeje, so always check the flags before swimming. Come in the late afternoon for the sunset over the ocean.

🚗 Worth the drive
From our villas in Costa Adeje it is roughly 75 minutes by car. A perfect day trip when you want to see the greener, more authentic side of the island.

EL BALITO | You have seen this place. You just did not know where it was. 🌊

🎬 If you watched Guy Ritchie's "In the Grey" this year, with Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez, you have already been here.

The speedboat tearing past that long stone wall was filmed at this exact pier, on the west coast of Adeje.

Next time it comes on, you will know precisely where you are looking.

⚓ Long before the film crews, this was a working loading dock.

Bananas and tomatoes grown on the terraces above were carried down and lifted onto cargo boats by the crane that still stands at the end of the jetty.

The old sheds behind it are empty now, left to the sun and the graffiti.

🤿 Today it belongs to fishermen, swimmers and divers.

Bring a mask and reef shoes.

There is no bar, no sunbed, no music. That is exactly the point.

🏡 It is a twenty minute drive from our villas in Costa Adeje, and one of the first places we send guests who want the real island.
