Closure of the Visit Albir web site
When we started We ❤ Albir almost eight years ago on Facebook, there were no other groups promoting the resort in a positive way and we soon realised that we also needed to make an informative website, which we funded privately and opened as Visit Albir.
The Town hall of Alfas del Pi were initially happy to support our initiatives and even offered some limited financial assistance, but that ended after the local elections several years ago, so we have been paying for the hosting and maintenance fees out of our own pocket.
Unfortunately, we can no longer continue to pay these costs on our own and without any local tourism support, we are unable to update and improve the web site, so today we have relunctantly decided to take down the web site.
From a personal level, this has been a hard and sad decision. We do take comfort from the fact that that we have played a small part in raising awareness of our little corner of paradise. More than a million people each month see posts on our combined groups.
The closure of the website does not directly affect our popular and lively FB groups, We ❤ Albir & Altea and L💚VE LOCAL L'ALFAS DEP PI & ALTEA, which we will continue to run as community projects. We will continue to be a useful source of information on the major events and local information, although we have scaled back on our work.
I must say a big thank you to our volunteer moderators, especially AnneLise Johannessen who has been with us from the start, as well as Venetia Charlton and Andrea Dunne. They give up a large amount of their time to keep these groups going, always cheerful and positive. Without you guys, we would not have been able to continue these groups.
A big thank you to our many wonderful members for their great contributions, which we will always appreciate. We look forward to your next visit and hope that our groups inspire you to visit.
