It’s been a long day for my group travelling from various UK airports to Madrid. But we’ve met up and now travelling south to the Parque Natural Sierra de Andujar, and 4 days of hopefully photographing the stunning Iberian Lynx.

🐾 VIENTO | NOCTURNAL HUNTING BEHAVIOUR

A remarkable moment in the nocturnal activity of Viento, a young male Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) that shares his territory with other resident lynxes at Gato Clavo.

The photograph captures a high-speed interaction with a European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), the primary prey species of the Iberian lynx.

The lynx is a specialised ambush predator, relying on stealth, short-range acceleration and rapid forelimb movements rather than prolonged pursuit.

Viento’s body posture, extended forelimbs and powerful hindquarter propulsion illustrate the biomechanics of this hunting strategy.

Nocturnal monitoring provides valuable opportunities to document natural predatory behaviour and predator–prey interactions in free-ranging individuals.

Seguimos apostando por talleres especializados de fotografía de naturaleza, de la mano de profesionales con experiencia y conocimiento de nuestra fauna.

Esta vez contamos con Ferran Aguilar Antón , fotógrafo, naturalista, consultor ambiental, divulgador y buen amigo de nuestro proyecto. Un profesional con una extensa trayectoria, autor de numerosas publicaciones y reconocido con prestigiosos premios, entre ellos el LUX de Oro 2024. 🏆

Ferran lleva años estudiando y fotografiando al lince ibérico, buscando mucho más que una buena imagen: comportamiento, acción, luz, ambiente e historias que contar.
