About Your Skipper

Hi, I’m Kurt-Jaime Tulla, you can call me Kurt or KJ. I have a Spanish father and a German mother, and I was born and brought up on the coast of Barcelona. I speak English, German, Spanish, and Catalan.

Since I was 6 years old, local fishermen would take me fishing with them, and tell me about the secrets of the sea here. One of them threw me into the sea from his boat to see if I could swim. Spoiler alert: I couldn’t! He pulled me up by the scruff of my neck and deposited me on the beach where my mother was waiting. “He can’t swim, let’s give him a snorkel and a spear and see what he can do.” In this way, I learned to fish before I could swim. (Don’t worry! I can swim very well now.)

I started working early in the nautical world as a windsurfing and sailing teacher, scuba diving instructor, and as Skipper on luxury yachts. I also used to work in art trading, and still paint once in a while.

It was during my work on yachts, that I discovered my real passion: introducing people to Sportfishing and explaining to them all about the maritime world and sea life.

I want you, and our future generations, to understand and help protect our oceans.

15 years ago, I saw that many tourists came to Barcelona and the Maresme coast. But there was no recreational fishing experience at affordable prices available at that time. So I started my fishing charter to enable even inexperienced people to enjoy a day out on the sea and go fishing with me without breaking the bank. I was the first one to do that. Others did copy me... and this is alright. The sea is big enough for us!

Enjoy sustainable sportfishing with me. It is a good way to help maintain our fishing resources. Commercial fishing is not helping. Just enjoy a good day on the sea with your family, friends, team, or all of the above! You’ll be learning the various sustainable fishing techniques, and finally eating the fish you have caught at the Beach Bar Restaurant nearby! It’s great fun!! Captain will usually take you there and share the after hour fun with you.

My philosophy is that a day spent on the sea is a happy day. And the after hours on the beach cafe with good food and drink and great company, is very important too!!

And for those who want the Big Game - you won’t be disappointed either. We have big tuna and other species in our waters. Be prepared to put in the hours and effort, and it is all possible.
