Purple Heron, arguably the most beautiful heron breeding in Europe. This stunning adult posed for us during our tour in Hungary last June. The extensive fishing pond systems in Hortobagy, combined with its extensive grasslands, provides a wonderful habitat for this species.

L'agró roig és probablement l'Ardèid més bell dels que nien a Europa. Aquest fantàstic adult va posar per al nostre grup al darrer tour a Hongria, el passat juny. Les grans llacunes d'Hortobagy, combinades amb les seves extenses estepes, proporcionen un hàbitat ideal per a l'espècie.

Avui guiatge a "quatre ulls" per terres pirinenques. Una jornada amb molt bones observacions de merla roquera, aufrany, verderola, àguiles marcenca, calçada i daurada, escorxadors i, malgrat la calor intensa, super observacions de les dues espècies més cobejades pel grup: trencalòs i picot negre!
El nostre grup d'ornitòlegs americans no podien estar més contents!!

Today "four eyes"* guiding in the Pyrenees. Another great day with very nice views on Common Rock Thrush, Egyptian Vulture, Citril Finch; Short-toed, Booted and Golden Eagles; Red-backed Shrike and, despite the very intense heat, the two main species in our guest's wish list, Lammergeier and Black Woodpecker!

* four eyes is a weird attemp to explain that we were two guides today. Apologies for the double meaning..

Ending another intense tour in Northern Finland and Varanger (Norway). All smiles after enjoying good views on 5 species of Owls, all 5 European species of Grouses, Three-toed Woodpecker, Siberian Jay, Siberian Tit, Red-flanked Bluetail, White-billed Diver, Rustic, Little, Lapland, Snow & Ortolan Buntings, Pallid Harrier and many, many more! Still, we missed the Ross's Gull for only one day..

Happy faces with our guests as ending a great 2 days tailor-made after enjoying cracking views on all 8 species of Larks (including Dupont's), Great Spotted Cuckoo, all 4 species of vultures (including 5+ Lammergeiers), Sandgrouses, Bustards, 5 species of Owls, 2 species of Nightjars and an almost endless list of species!

Somriures de felicitat en acabar un fantàstic guiatge de 2 dies després de gaudir fantàstiques observacions de 8 espècies d'Alaúdids (incloent alosa beguda), cucut reial, totes 4 espècies de voltors (incloent 5 trencalòs), gangues i xurres, sisons i piocs, 5 espècies de mussol, siboc i enganyapastors i una llista quasi infinita d'espècies!

Hi ha un paradís pels còlits al Mediterrani i es diu Marroc. Aquí teniu les 9 espècies de còlit que vam poder veure al Marroc al nostre darrer tour el passat mes de març.

Temps d'arpelles cendroses a la Plana de Lleida. Fa un parell de dies, aquest mascle de segon any festejava amb una femella adulta en una zona a on també vam veure gangues, sisons, pardals de passa i cucut reial. Tot un luxe!

It is Montagu's Harrier time in Lleida Steppes. This 2cy male was engaged with an adult female earlier this week. In this same spot we got Pin-tailed Sandgrouses, Little Bustard, Spanish Sparrows (still a rarity in Catalonia) and Creat Spotted Cuckoo. Pas mal!

Aquest papamosques de collar va ser una bonica parada de camí a Extremadura, a on farem tour aquesta setmana amb un grup d'irlandesos.
A tocar de l'Ebre, es va deixar estimar malgrat la pluja. Una llàstima ser tant lluny de la migració aquesta setmana, que sembla que pot ser molt bona per aquesta i d'altres espècies!

This Collared Flycatcher was a nice stopover on our way to Extremadura from Catalonia.
Right by the Ebro River, it was very confiding despite the rain. A pity to be in Extremadura, and so far away from the coastal migration this week. It looks like it can be a great week for this an other scarcities!
