Roses and books flood Barcelona every April 23 for Saint Jordi 🌹📖

👉 What is it?
A Catalan tradition rooted in legend, love, and literature.

🐲 A dragon once terrorized a town, demanding a daily sacrifice to keep it satisfied… until there was nothing left to give.

👑 When the princess was chosen, the town prepared for the worst.

🤴 But Saint Jordi stepped in, slaying the dragon and saving her.

💐 From the dragon’s blood, roses bloomed. He picked one and gave it to the princess.

📖 April 23rd also is the day Miguel Cervantes and William Shakespeare died.

💖 Now, boys buy girls a rose and girls buy boys a book in return.

Stands are along the streets selling both for the big celebration. 🎊
