Moors and Christians Fiesta – Benamaurel 🍷

It’s going to be a fantastic weekend here in Benamaurel! The much-loved Moors and Christians fiesta is just about to kick off, with the big parade happening tomorrow – and the excitement is building.

Our guests are here from Granada, and they’ve timed it perfectly.

The sun is shining all weekend and the atmosphere is already buzzing – it’s going to be one to remember! ☀️

This incredible annual celebration dates back centuries and commemorates the battles between Moors and Christians during the Reconquista. It’s a powerful blend of history, tradition, and pageantry complete with dramatic reenactments, music, and the most stunning costumes.

👏 Mark’s finished off the exterior it’s looking so much fresher !

Just in time too… our lovely guests from Ceuta have arrived after a long journey (Ceuta is a Spanish city on the north coast of Africa, just across from mainland Spain.) 🇪🇸

They’ve come to meet their friends who’ve travelled from Valencia, and they’re all absolutely loving the cave.

It’s always so special to see friends from different corners of Spain choosing to meet up here at Cuevas Helena Holidays really is a place that brings people together 😃

Thanks to Mark Graham Painters & Decorators for another great Job maybe it’s time for a wee Cerveza 🍺

Annual Cave Painting at Cuevas Helena Holidays

Mark Graham Painters & Decorators working against the clock to complete our never-ending painting of both caves, ensuring they are perfect for all our guests.

The caves have been power-washed, sealed, and filled to provide optimal surfaces for spray painting. Despite challenging weather conditions, one cave is nearly finished for Season 2025🌞

Let’s hope all is complete for guests arriving tomorrow for their Easter Holiday 🐣🤞

What a great Weekend in the Village!We set out to visit 9 bars and managed 7 out of 9 not bad at all! A fantastic weekend filled with great company, amazing food🥘We have our winners for Savory & Sweet the winner will be announced this week and we shall announce the winners 🥘🥮A huge well done to all the bars for their incredible efforts.Special mention to PUB ENIGMA for the Best Brockmans & Berry Tonic and a fantastic atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon!And if you’ve never been to Alhanda Apartamentos Turisticos, we highly recommend a visit—a fabulous place to chill, overlooking the pool with Mount Jabalcón in the distance 🥘🥮

Get ready for a weekend full of incredible flavours at the 8th Ruta de la Tapa in Benamaurel!

With 9 bars participating, you may need both days to visit them all. Bars start serving tapas around 12:30 PM, but each one has its own schedule, so plan accordingly!

Here’s how it works:

✅ Pick up your tapa card at any of the participating bars.

🍽️ Try the tapas—each bar has crafted something unique!

📝 Get your card stamped after enjoying your tapa.

⭐ Score the tapas out of 10 and help crown the best one!

We popped into the MetalMaurel Festival in Benamaurel to support our neighbour Sergio, the events manager behind this rock fest 🎸🔥

Rock isn’t really our genre, but it’s fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves and the energy of live music. We also had the chance to catch up with some of our guests while soaking in the atmosphere.
