Some think it comes from Arabic – “Beni” meaning sons of, and “dorm” possibly linked to sleep.

So technically… Benidorm = place of the people who sleep.
😂 Irony level: 100.

📍Benidorm locals & regulars – who remembers this?

The giant paella sign from Calle Ruzafa has finally been taken down after nearly 60 years 😲

It hung above Restaurante Aitona since the 1960s and became one of those random Benidorm landmarks everyone seemed to know — “just look for the big paella!”

It’s now been handed over to the Town Hall and will be restored as part of the city’s heritage.
