What does a private food tour in A Coruña look like? 🐙🧀🍷

We welcomed a honeymoon couple arriving aboard Celebrity Apex for a private culinary journey through the heart of the city.
After walking through the Méndez Núñez Gardens, we explored Plaza de Lugo Market, discovering Galicia´s remarkable fish, seafood, meats, cheeses and seasonal produce.

Our first tasting brought together three Galician cheeses, two local chorizos and w**es made with Godello and Mencía grapes. We then continued through A Coruña for xouba empanada, monkfish, rice, Albariño and Ribeiro.

Our final stop was a true Galician feast of pulpo á feira, Padrón peppers, raxo with fries and Estrella Galicia, followed by homemade dessert and coffee.
The perfect way to discover A Coruña before walking back to the cruise ship, and we were delighted to receive this wonderful five-star Google review:

Today was a special one in Vigo.

Tiernan celebrated his birthday doing what he does so well, taking a wonderful group through the city and sharing some of the food, stories and places that make Vigo such a great culinary destination.

And judging by the smiles, and that seafood rice, it was a very good day indeed. 😊

The guests loved the tour, which is exactly what we want every time we head out with a group. Great food matters, of course, but it is the people, conversations and moments around the table that really make these experiences memorable.

Happy Birthday, Tiernan, and another great Vigo Food Tour in the books! 🎂🥂

MADEIRA FOOD IN BRAGA 🇵🇹

A little taste of Madeira at the Ao Gosto da Madeira festival in Braga 💚

Freshly prepared prego served in bolo do caco, a cold Coral b**r and, of course, the colours of Marítimo.

Madeira may be an island, but its flavours travel beautifully.

Would you try this Madeiran prego?

🥂🦞 An exclusive private food and w**e journey through Galicia’s Rías Baixas w**e country.

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of personally hosting four American guests on our VIP Condado do Tea and O Rosal Food & W**e Tour, exploring one of Galicia’s most beautiful and lesser-known w**e regions.

We visited two contrasting Rías Baixas w**eries, beginning with a small organic w**ery in the Condado do Tea subzone before continuing to another excellent w**ery in O Rosal.

Across the two visits, our guests tasted a total of nine Galician w**es, paired with local appetisers, learned about Albariño and the different terroirs of southern Galicia, and enjoyed the w**es so much that they stocked up with bottles from both w**eries! 🍾

We then travelled to the fishing village of A Guarda for a generous Galician seafood lunch featuring lobster 🦞, fresh local produce and, of course, more Albariño.

After lunch, we climbed to the summit of Monte Santa Trega, where we explored the ancient Celtic hillfort, visited the archaeological museum and enjoyed spectacular 360-degree views over the Atlantic Ocean, the River Miño, Galicia and neighbouring Portugal.

Following the coast towards Baiona, we stopped at the historic Royal Monastery of Oia, dramatically located beside the Atlantic, before ending the day back at the magnificent Parador de Baiona.

Two w**eries. Nine w**es. Galician seafood and lobster. Celtic history. Atlantic landscapes.

This is not simply a w**e tasting. It is a complete private food, w**e, culture and heritage journey through the Rías Baixas region of Galicia.

This is what summer tastes like in Galicia. 🇪🇸🐟

We stopped by the Sardiñada de Verán in Cangas do Morrazo, where fresh sardines were grilled over the fire and served simply with Galician bread.

Smoky, salty and full of flavour, this is one of those local food traditions that brings the whole community together. No complicated presentation, just good ingredients, open-fire cooking and the atmosphere of a Galician summer celebration.

Would you try grilled sardines like this?

Over the last few weeks we have been sharing Madeira in a different way.

We started with a live stream from the water in Funchal during the Atlantic Festival fireworks. Then, because the signal at Santo da Serra Sunday Market was not strong enough for a proper live stream, we recorded the market visit in 4K instead.

Now we are preparing the next step: a live rural cooking experience from Santo Queijo in Santo da Serra, with Chef Sergio, Angie and myself.

This is about more than video. It is about sharing Madeira through its people, food, countryside, markets, small producers and the stories behind the flavours.

We have put the whole story together in a new blog post, from the Funchal fireworks to Santo da Serra Market and the upcoming live from Santo Queijo.
