Entre cumbres, bosques y aves… así se vive junio en la Montaña de Riaño ⛰️🦅

Os compartimos una pequeña selección de imágenes realizadas estos días entre nuestro hide de rapaces de Valdeburón y las salidas guiadas de aves de montaña, dos experiencias que reflejan la enorme biodiversidad que ofrece este rincón privilegiado de la Cordillera Cantábrica.

Seguimos disfrutando de una temporada espectacular. Naturaleza salvaje, fotografía y momentos que solo ocurren aquí. 🍃

Amidst peaks, forests and birds… this is what June is like in the Riaño Mountains ⛰️🦅

🦊🌿 Entre los prados y bosques de la Montaña de Riaño, el encuentro con este zorro sigue fue uno de los momentos más emocionantes de la salida.

Estas imágenes, realizadas por Antonio Vázquez durante una de nuestras salidas de observación de mamíferos, muestran la elegancia de un animal tan conocido como fascinante. Siempre alerta, siempre observando.

🖤🌲 El picamaderos negro es el mayor de los pájaros carpinteros de Europa y una de las especies más buscadas por los fotógrafos de naturaleza. Su potente tamborileo resuena entre los hayedos y robledales de la Montaña Oriental Leonesa, donde todavía sigue ofreciéndonos grandes oportunidades fotográficas.

Aunque estamos entrando en la recta final de la temporada de esta especie, si deseas fotografiarlo aún estás a tiempo de hacerlo en Crémenes. 📸

🖤🌲 The black woodpecker is the largest of Europe’s woodpeckers and one of the species most sought after by nature photographers. Its powerful drumming echoes through the beech and oak forests of the Eastern Mountains of León, where it continues to offer us excellent photographic opportunities.

Although we are entering the final stretch of the season for this species, if you’d like to photograph it, there’s still time to do so in Crémenes. 📸

Hace diez días, la montaña volvió a vestirse de invierno… ❄️🏔️

Por segundo año consecutivo, nuestro grupo de fotógrafos franceses pudo disfrutar de una inesperada nevada primaveral en Riaño, en nuestros hides de Acebedo, Valdeburón y de aves de montaña. Un paisaje espectacular donde especies como el roquero rojo y el pechiazul destacaban aún más entre las cumbres recién cubiertas de nieve.

Momentos únicos, luz especial y esa magia que solo la montaña sabe regalar cuando menos te lo esperas.

Ten days ago, the mountains were once again blanketed in winter… ❄️🏔️

For the second year running, our group of French photographers were treated to an unexpected spring snowfall in Riaño, at our hides in Acebedo, Valdeburón and the mountain bird hide. A spectacular landscape where species such as the Common Rock Thrush and the Bluethroat stood out even more against the freshly snow-covered peaks.

Unique moments, special light and that magic that only the mountains can offer when you least expect it.

Hace unas semanas Gerald Kelberg visitó nuestros hides de la Montaña de Riaño y ahora nos comparte esta espectacular selección de imágenes de su sesión. 🏔️🐦

Además de las fotografías, nos hizo llegar una reseña muy especial, destacando el gran trabajo de nuestro compañero Bernardo, su conocimiento de las aves de la zona y la pasión con la que vive cada jornada en el campo. Y lo mejor de todo: Gerald ya tiene claro que le encantaría volver a Riaño para compartir nuevas sesiones con él en el futuro.

Gracias por la visita, Gerald. ¡Aquí siempre tendrás tu casa entre montañas!
A few weeks ago, Gerald Kelberg visited our hides on Riaño Mountain and now he’s sharing this spectacular selection of photos from his session with us. 🏔️🐦

As well as the photographs, he sent us a very special review, highlighting the great work of our colleague Bernardo, his knowledge of the birds in the area and the passion with which he lives every day in the countryside. 🐦El torcecuello no es un carpintero al uso: no perfora madera y pasa gran parte del tiempo en el suelo, buscando hormigas con su larga lengua. Su plumaje críptico y sus movimientos lo convierten en una de las especies más singulares que podemos fotografiar.

Además, cuando se siente amenazado, es capaz de girar el cuello de forma sorprendente, imitando a una serpiente para defenderse. En plena época, sigue dejándose ver en buenas condiciones frente al hide.
¿Te animas a vivirlo?

🐦The Eurasian Wryneck isn’t your typical woodpecker: it doesn’t peck at wood and spends much of its time on the ground, hunting for ants with its long tongue. Its cryptic plumage and movements make it one of the most unique species we can photograph.

What’s more, when it feels threatened, it can twist its neck in a surprising way, mimicking a snake to defend itself. At the height of the season, it can still be spotted in good condition from the hide.

Estos días estamos viviendo momentos muy especiales en el occidente asturiano, un entorno espectacular para la fotografía. Antonio Vázquez nos comparte algunas imágenes que reflejan justo eso: naturaleza en estado puro, luz de primavera y encuentros que no se olvidan.

Desde el hide de Acebedo, Antonio Vázquez nos deja esta magnífica selección en la que encontramos: colirrojos reales, herrerillo, lavandera, pinzón… y protagonistas como el torcecuello, el pito real o el trepador azul.

Pero si hay una estrella aquí, es el escribano cerillo. Ahora mismo están espectaculares, en pleno pico de color y actividad, y este hide es uno de los mejores lugares para fotografiarlos.

Un escenario donde cada jornada es diferente… y siempre pasan cosas.

From the Acebedo hide, Antonio Vázquez has provided us with this magnificent selection, featuring: redstarts, blue t**s, grey wagtails, chaffinches… and stars of the show such as the wryneck, the great spotted woodpecker and the Eurasian nuthatch.

But if there’s one star here, it’s the yellowhammer. Right now they’re spectacular, at the height of their colour and activity, and this hide is one of the best places to photograph them.
