Of course, the real Tour of Flanders has been postponed for the time being in line with the guidelines issued by the government to prevent the coronavirus from spreading. Nevertheless, we have found an alternative for the Tour of Flanders this Sunday - with the first virtual edition ever, as well a radio play featuring 104 years of Flanders Finest.

DeRonde2020, the lockdown edition
The event that all of Flanders is more passionate about than any other will not take place on Sunday 5 April. This prompted Flanders Classics and Belgian national sports broadcaster Sporza to go in search of an innovative alternative that is equally thrilling for both fans and cyclists. Although it is currently forbidden to cycle in groups and has been for a little while now, they will be announcing the very first virtual edition of Flanders’ Finest for professional cyclists today: DeRonde2020, the lockdown edition. Because you can still cycle on your home trainer.

The Official Unbelievable Tour of Flanders
This year, the Tour of Flanders will not be held once, but twice. Visit Flanders, Cycling in Flanders, Flanders Classics and Sporza joined forces to create a radio story: The Official Incredible Tour of Flanders. In collaboration with Het Geluidhuis and Bowling Brands, they will transport cycling fans to an era of unwritten, thrilling cycling history - just as if you were listening to the commentary to a genuine, live cycling race.

This will, without a doubt, be the most exciting Ronde ever - because it is so much more than just another race. Get ready for a story with some incredible plot twists, featuring cameo appearances by heroes from one hundred years of cycling history such as Eddy Merckx, Johan Museeuw, Fabian Cancellara, Mario Cipollini, Briek Schotte, Bradley Wiggins, Fausto Coppi and the Van der Poel family.

Don't miss this unique storytelling concept and tune in this weekend. Rob Hatch and Matt Stephens will take you along on the virtual 2020 Tour of Flanders with exceptional live commentary. The story can be listened to on www.cycling-in-flanders.cc.

Esta semana deberíamos estar con vosotr@s en el Tour de Flandes Sin embargo, hay una alternativa para el Tour de Flandes de hoy: la primera edición virtual de la historia que se podrá seguir en el canal Youtube de Flanders Classics, así como un programa de radio cuyo podcast se podrá escuchar el domingo en www.cycling-in-flanders.cc. Este programa contendrá 104 años de la "Flanders Finest", y en él tendrán presencia de alguna manera o mención héroes ciclistas de todo el mundo, entre los que se incluyen Flecha, Erviti, Valverde, Induráin, Freire, Delgado, Ocaña... ¡y muchos otros! The Tour of Flanders will start this Sunday. On the 5th of April, the best cyclists of all time will compete against each other.

Show your good manners while riding the bike. Here some basics for a bike trip:

-Greet each other.

-Ask ALWAYS to the mate stopped in the ditch if needs help.

-Do not attack on uphill to ones who have worked on the flat.

-Ride in groups of 2. If the group is odd, the single one must go the last instead of in the middle of the group breaking the peloton.

-When an unknown one passes us, must ask for permission to follow behind. And if the one behind deviates before than the other, must say “bye” to notice the other.

-Do not relay a unknown one who is working his serials if it does not ask for.

-Do not enter in relay in a unknown group. -Do not stack in the middle of another group.

-Do not ride in dangerous position with the hands far from the brakes while we ride in a peloton.

- The relays are given maintaining the speed of the group, not increasing.
-The wrap of the bars, always to the Jersey.
