Beyond the Caminito del Rey...

Getting to the Caminito del Rey isn't quite as straightforward as it might first appear.

You can arrive by car, train or bus, but knowing which entrance to head for — and where El Chorro fits into the route — makes a big difference.

When is the best time to visit the Caminito del Rey?

There isn't necessarily one perfect month for everyone. Spring and autumn generally offer the most comfortable walking conditions, while summer can be very hot and winter brings a greater chance of rain.

Before the restoration, the Caminito del Rey looked very different from the walkway visitors experience today.

This remarkable footage, filmed by adventurer Daniel Ahnen in the late 2000s, captures the old route before the restoration transformed it.

Daniel sadly lost his life in a mountaineering accident in 2011, making the footage an especially poignant record of the Caminito's past.

Finished the Caminito del Rey and wondering how you get back to your car?

The Caminito is a one-way route, so the shuttle bus is an important part of planning your visit if you park at the northern end.
