Each spring, Seville transforms. Not for visitors, but for itself.
The Feria de Abril (April 21–26, 2026) is often seen as one of Spain’s most iconic celebrations, yet its origins are surprisingly modest. In 1847, it began as a livestock fair—a practical gathering for traders and farmers.
Within just a few years, something shifted. Small social tents—casetas—appeared, music followed, and what started as commerce evolved into a celebration of Andalusian identity.
Today, the fairgrounds come alive with over a thousand casetas, most of them private, where families and friends gather year after year. Days unfold with horse-drawn carriages and traditional dress; nights glow under thousands of lanterns, filled with music, dancing, and conversation.
It may draw global attention, but at its heart, the Feria still belongs to Seville. It’s not a performance—it’s a tradition, lived and passed on.
