🟩⬜🟩 ¡¡ FELIZ DÍA DE ANDALUCÍA !!
Known as ‘Día de Andalucía’, this holiday commemorates the Statute of Autonomy of Andalucia referendum held on February 28th 1980, in which the Andalusian people voted for the statute that made this region an autonomous community of Spain.
Yes, the team at SLC is Grenadian, we are Andalusians… so... as could not be otherwise, we are so proud of being it! 😉💃
☑ Let us introduce you to our coat of arms
It features Hercules calmly stroking two lions, between the Pillars of Hercules. According to Roman legends, Hercules was on his way to the garden of Hesperides and used his superhuman strength to smash the mountain of Atlas in two, creating the Strait of Gibraltar. The Rock of Gibraltar, on the Iberian peninsula, and Jebel Musa, in Ceuta, have since been known at the Pillars of Hercules.
On the anthem and shield of Andalucía, 💪Hercules represents the ‘eternal youthful force’ of the human spirit, and the two lions 🦁🦁 represent the pacification of our powerful animal instincts.
☑ And why not? Today, let us also share a bite of Federico Garcia Lorca, born in Granada
Lorca is not only Spain's most universal poet ✍, but he is also a universally recognized symbol of 🇪🇦 Spain - and especially Andalusia - itself.
His poems paint a vivid and intrinsically poetic portrait of this fascinating region, with its stark landscapes of olive groves and fig trees, its moonlit nights among whitewashed walls and Moorish towers, its bullfighters and, above all, its gypsies with their free-roaming ways and fierce codes of living and loving.
Lorca is Granada's greatest poet, the most read Spanish writer of all time & the most translated one, although today we share with you a lovely 🤩 poem he created to honor his beloved Andalucia in SPANISH… Do you dare to try understanding it and feeling our soul?
