La Jarilla is ideal for block bookings for several families with children, small conferences, yoga and wellness retreats, teambuilding, painting and cooking courses. The Cortijo was found in ruins in 2004 by Simon Munro Kerr, and after years of hard work and restoration was completed in 2008. Every door, window and reja was reclaimed from all corners of Andalucia. With traditional red roof tiles, chestnut beams, cane ceilings and harled walls Cortijo de la Jarilla is a traditional 19th century Andalucian construction. The Cortijo now consists of three self-catering cottages and Simon’s house. Bodega House sleeps four, Campana House sleeps eight and Veleta House also sleeps eight. Two of the self-catering cottages are attached and interconnecting, when required. Full board is available or alternatively the occasional dinner! Apart from long walks taking in the spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada, the Mediterranean and occasionally Africa, or relaxing on your terrace drinking one of the house wines, La Jarilla also offers a number of additional facilities including:

DISCOUNTED AUTUMN BREAKS AT LA JARILLA

Dear Guest or could have been, of yesteryear.

Summer at La Jarilla is almost over & now, in the opinion of those that have stayed before, begins the best weather of all, which will continue at least until the end of October. It is dry, cool in the evenings & not too hot at midday, enabling one to swim & play tennis all day, should one so wish. It is also the time of the fig, almond & grape harvests & wine making, in any one of which you would be most welcome to participate.

At the moment there are too many vacancies at La Jarilla in September & October, so I am offering a 25% discount on the low season. I am also offering this discount for long weekends, of a minimum of 3 nights, pro rata. Another point in your favour is that flights & car hire are appreciably cheaper, at that time of the year.

This year's olive harvest is done, a little later than last year because of the slow spring & the new oil is now safely vatted in the bodega. There were less olives than last year but we still managed to collect 600 kilos from the best of the trees, which milled out at 135 litres of delicious organic oil. The attached photographs show the process of harvesting, removing the leaves on the conveyor belt, weighing the olives, the milling & bottling.
